 Accent International works in England and all over the world teaching
English to Executives and Professionals and advising companies and schools
on ways to teach English. We have been asked many times by past students
if they could return with their families and so we have created Country
Cottage English to offer an excellent combination of holiday in this
beautiful area with English language teaching.
The Package
Country Cottage English programmes usually include the following components:
- Rental of a cottage or apartment
- 15 hours per week of English language teaching in the cottage
- All teaching materials
- Tourist information
- All administration
The Accommodation
We work closely with cottage agencies who inspect and grade the cottages we use.
In this way, we can be sure that the cottages we offer to our students are
of a good standard and also that we have a good choice to offer. The cottages
can be for two people up to eight in a family group. We offer cottages by the
sea, in a small village, in the country, near a river...even apartments in
a city, if you prefer.
All of the cottages are in Devon in south-west England. This is because
our training centre is located here and we can administer your programme
more effectively and deal with any questions more efficiently.
The Teaching
The trainer comes to the cottage. The most popular package includes three hours
per day of English language training Ð so 15 hours per week. The trainer
can teach all of the family together in a group Ð or just the father, or
just the mother, or just the children or a combination of all these possibilities.
The choice is yours! The teacher brings all necessary materials and equipment
to the cottage. General English, Business English or Specialist English can
all be taught.
The Area
Devon is one of the most beautiful parts of England and is a very popular holiday
destination. There are two coasts (North and South), two national parks (Dartmoor
and Exmoor), beautiful villages, castles and stately homes, the cities of Exeter
and Plymouth and one of the best climates in the UK. The area where Accent
is located is called the ÒGolden TriangleÓ because of the sun
and sand and we are next to the ÒEnglish RivieraÓ Ð so you
can see that the coast is very beautiful.
Travel
We recommend that you bring your own car or hire a car when you are here. There
are many beautiful places to visit but public transport is limited, depending
upon where your cottage is located and we feel that you will benefit much more
from your stay if you are independent for transport needs.
We will give full information on how to reach your cottage when you book for
a course.
The Cost
Every family is different and has different needs. Cottage English runs during
the whole year and, therefore, cottage rental prices are different Ð obviously
higher in July and August and at Christmas and New Year. We cannot, therefore,
give an accurate standard price. The cost depends upon:
- The size of your family
- The facilities you need
- The time of year
As a guideline, however, £750 per week per family, for everything
(cottage and teaching and administration and materials) is a reasonable
starting price. If you come at the height of summer or if you have a
large family or you want a swimming pool with the cottage, then it will
be more expensive. On the other hand, if you are only a couple and you
come in the spring or the autumn it may be less expensive.
Booking Procedure
We have a large number of cottages to choose from and every family is different
so we do not produce a brochure of the available cottages. We consider each
application individually.
The first step is for you to complete the Enquiry Form on the back of
this leaflet. When we receive this, we analyse your needs and fax or
post you details of several cottages which we think would suit you and
which are available for the period you require. The price of the Country
Cottage English package will be given on this document.
You can then select the cottage you like and fax, e-mail or telephone
your choice to Accent. We shall then reserve the cottage for you for
7 days. You should transfer the deposit to arrive in our bank account
within those seven days. We then confirm everything to you and send all
the necessary documentation, travel details and invoice for the balance
of the fees.
Avoid Disappointment
These cottages are very popular and this package attracts a lot of interest.
Please contact us as soon as possible, giving us as much advance notice as
you possibly can. The closer we get to the summer period, the fewer cottages
that remain and the more limited the choice. Please try to book early.
